Introduction
Welcome to ChatRadar (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We operate the website located at chatradarhq.com (the “Site”).
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our Site, and outlines your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
By using this Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Personal information. We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide, such as when you email us at info@chatradarhq.com with questions, corrections, or feedback. This may include your name, email address, and any information you choose to share.
Non-personal information. When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain non-personal information through Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, including browser type, device type, approximate location, IP address, pages visited, time and date of visits, and referring website. This information helps us understand traffic patterns and improve the Site.
How We Use Site Technology
ChatRadar uses the following technologies to operate and improve the Site:
- Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console — to measure traffic, search performance, and site usage.
- LiteSpeed Cache and QUIC.cloud — a caching and content delivery service that stores and serves copies of our pages to improve load times. QUIC.cloud may process visitor IP addresses as part of delivering cached content.
- ThirstyAffiliates — an affiliate link management plugin that cloaks and redirects outbound links to the third-party platforms we review. When you click an affiliate link, ThirstyAffiliates records that a click occurred and redirects you to the third-party platform, which may then set its own cookies or tracking technology.
Live Video Chat Widget
The Site embeds a live video chat widget powered by third-party technology integrated into ChatRadar. When you interact with this widget, your browser connects directly to that third-party provider’s service, which may collect information such as your IP address, device information, and video/audio data as part of providing the chat functionality. This collection is governed by the third-party provider’s own privacy policy, not this one — we do not control, store, or have access to the data processed through the widget beyond what is described in this Policy. See our Affiliate Disclosure & Disclaimer for more on how this functionality works.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our processing of your personal data is based on the following legal grounds under the GDPR and UK GDPR:
- Consent — when you voluntarily email us or accept our use of non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Site, analyze traffic, and measure the effectiveness of our affiliate marketing.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before that withdrawal.
Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are located in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — ask us to delete your personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing.
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling for marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.
- Right to lodge a complaint — complain to your local supervisory authority if you believe we have not handled your data lawfully.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@chatradarhq.com. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days, free of charge, except where requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
- Right to know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, our purposes, and any third parties we share it with.
- Right to delete — request that we delete personal information collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct — request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell personal information for monetary value. Certain analytics or advertising technology may constitute “sharing” under the CPRA; you may opt out via your cookie preferences or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect sensitive personal information for purposes requiring this election.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any CCPA right.
To exercise these rights, contact us at info@chatradarhq.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days as required by law.
South Africa Privacy Rights (POPIA)
ChatRadar is operated from South Africa. If you are a South African data subject, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) gives you the right to:
- Be notified that personal information about you is being collected;
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction or deletion of inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading, or unlawfully obtained personal information;
- Object to the processing of your personal information;
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have processed your personal information unlawfully.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@chatradarhq.com.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
ChatRadar uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate and improve the Site. We use the following categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function and cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics 4 to help us understand how visitors interact with the Site.
- Performance/caching cookies — set by LiteSpeed Cache and QUIC.cloud to deliver cached content efficiently.
- Affiliate and marketing cookies — set by ThirstyAffiliates and our affiliate partners to attribute referrals.
- Third-party widget cookies — set directly by the operator of the embedded live video chat widget when you use that functionality.
You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the Site, including the embedded chat widget, may not function properly if cookies are disabled.
Affiliate Links
Some pages on this Site contain affiliate links. If you click an affiliate link and register or interact with a third-party platform, we may earn a commission. Affiliate networks and ThirstyAffiliates may use cookies or tracking technologies to attribute referrals. These technologies are controlled by the respective third-party companies and are subject to their own privacy policies. See our Affiliate Disclosure & Disclaimer for full details.
Third-Party Websites
Our Site may link to or embed external websites and services that are not operated by us, including the platforms we review and the live video chat widget. We have no control over the content, privacy policies, or practices of those third parties. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies before interacting with them.
International Data Transfers
ChatRadar is operated from South Africa. If you access the Site from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms used by our service providers.
Data Retention
- Email correspondence — retained for up to 24 months from the date of last contact, then deleted.
- Analytics data — retained in aggregated, non-identifying form in accordance with Google Analytics’ data retention settings.
- Server and caching logs — retained for up to 12 months for security and diagnostic purposes.
You may request earlier deletion of your data at any time by contacting us, subject to legal retention obligations.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Information
This Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal information, we will take steps to remove it from our records.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date at the top.
